IBM WebSphere Application Server V7 Scalability and High Availability (ZA615G)

IBM Course Code: ZA615

In this course, students learn about scalability and high availability features and how they can be implemented in a WebSphere Application Server V7 Network Deployment cell.

Through recorded lectures and Adobe Flash demonstrations, students explore several highly available and scalable topologies, and evaluate their advantages and disadvantages. The course covers several components and features of WebSphere Application Server V7 Network Deployment that enable high availability and scaling, such as load balancers, caching proxies, the HTTP plug-in, the High Availability Manager (HA Manager), the service integration bus, and flexible management. Students also learn about advanced technologies and products, such as cloud computing and WebSphere eXtreme Scale, as solutions to scalability and high availability challenges in WebSphere environments.

What You'll Learn

  • Evaluate several WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment topologies
  • Manage web servers and plug-ins to configure highly available and scalable environments
  • Configure and manage proxy servers
  • Configure and manage load balancers (IP sprayers)
  • Administer HTTP session management in highly available and scalable topologies
  • Administer the High Availability Manager (HA Manager)
  • Configure messaging engine policies for cluster members of an SIBus
  • Configure the flexible management job manager and administrative agents
  • Describe advanced solutions, such as cloud computing and WebSphere eXtreme Scale, and how they relate to more scalable and fault tolerant systems
