This course is focused on LTE, and is designed to help network professionals improve their skills and understanding of the architecture fundamentals of LTE and the required interworking to CDMA or UMTS technologies. Students will learn about the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) components and their role in the LTE Evolved Packet System (EPS) to include the EPC network as well as the Radio Access Network (RAN). Detailed information on standardized technologies implemented on the Mobile Management Entity (MME) Serving Gateway (SGW), and Packet Data Network (PDN) Gateway (PGW) is a major part of this course, as well as their interaction with authentication, charging, and billing components in the network of the mobile operator. How these components are implemented and configured on the Cisco ASR 5000 Series system is also incorporated into this class.
