This course covers various enhancements to POWER hardware and firmware, VIOS, PowerVC, PowerKVM, and to the AIX operating system. It is current as of the 2014 fourth quarter announcements. It starts with an overview of POWER8 architecture, features, and the POWER8 family of servers. It then covers various software and firmware enhancements (including PowerVC 1.2.2, VIOS 22.214.171.124 and AIX 7.1 TL3).
This advance course is for System p and AIX administrators and anyone involved in the planning and support of POWER based systems running AIX.
You must have basic AIX, LPAR, and PowerVM system administration experience.
The AIX prerequisite can be met by attending one of the following classes or students can have equivalent AIX skills.
The LPAR and PowerVM prerequisite can be met by attending the following class or students can have equivalent LPAR skills.
