QOS - Implementing Cisco Quality of Service v2.3

Cisco Course v2.3

Cisco Total Access

Your All-Access Pass to Cisco Self-Paced Training

Get 12 months of unlimited access to our entire catalog of Cisco Self-Paced courses.

Includes mentoring, practice labs, study guides, assessments and practice tests.

Includes all course updates and additions during your subscription period.

In this course, you will gain in-depth knowledge of Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, conceptual models such as Best-Effort, Integrated Services (IntServ), and Differentiated Services (DiffServ), and implementing QoS on Cisco IOS platforms. You will learn about the theory of QoS, design issues, and configuring various QoS mechanisms to facilitate the creation of effective QoS administrative policies.

Case studies and lab activities included in the course will help you apply the concepts you'll master to real-life scenarios.

In this course, you will learn design and usage rules for various advanced QoS features and for integrating QoS with underlying Layer 2 QoS mechanisms, enabling you to optimize multiservice networks.

What You'll Learn

  •  The need to implement QoS and methods for implementing and managing QoS
  •  Different models used for ensuring QoS in a network and key QoS mechanisms used to implement the models
  •  Using the Modular QoS Command-Line Interface (MQC) and AutoQoS to implement QoS on the network
  •  Classifying and marking network traffic to implement a policy according to QoS requirements
  •  Using Cisco QoS queuing mechanisms to manage network congestion
  •  Using Cisco QoS congestion avoidance mechanisms to reduce the effects of congestion on the network
  •  Using Cisco QoS traffic policing and traffic-shaping mechanisms to effectively limit the rate of network traffic
  •  Using Cisco link efficiency mechanisms to improve the bandwidth efficiency of low-speed WAN links
  •  Selecting the most appropriate QoS mechanisms for providing QoS using Cisco best practices in service provider and enterprise networks

Who Needs to Attend

  •  Anyone who needs to design and/or implement QoS mechanisms
  •  Individuals seeking Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) or Cisco Certified Internet Professional (CCIP) certifications or an IP Communications specialization
  •  CCIE candidates (Routing and Switching, Security, or Voice) preparing for QoS objectives in the CCIE lab exams

Who Needs to Attend

Network professionals interested in deploying state-of-the-art QoS techniques to support multimedia traffic would benefit from this course.

Prerequisites

Completion of the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices (ICND) curriculum, or equivalent knowledge and experience, is recommended. Familiarity with Border Gateway Protocol is also recommended and assumed in this curriculum.
