WDBWL - Deploying Cisco Basic Wireless LANs v1.2

Learn basic Cisco Wireless LAN solutions in a customer enterprise environment.

In this course, you will learn how to plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain basic Cisco Wireless LAN solutions in a customer enterprise environment. The course is updated through Wireless LAN Controller and AP code release 8.1, which includes new in-demand features such as 802.11ac design awareness, iBeaconing, Apple 802.11v integration, AVC enhancements, FlexConnect enhancements, ease-of-use enhancements, as well as many more customer requested enhancements.

This course will build on top of WLAN terms, concepts, protocols, architecture and WLAN characteristics introduced in the Defining Cisco Wireless LAN Essentials (WLE) eLearning course. In this course you, will investigate the components, features, and deployment aspects of the system. You will have the opportunity to reinforce what you learn with hands-on labs. This course focuses on the essential network elements of a WLAN: the access points (APs) and wireless LAN controllers (WLCs).

This course provides high-level information about the optional but recommended network management and services appliance components of a Cisco Unified Wireless Network—the Cisco Prime Infrastructure (PI), and Mobility Services Engine (MSE)—but does not provide hands-on labs and in-depth coverage of these components. The Cisco management platform and MSE are covered in more depth in a separate course, Managing Cisco Wireless LANs (WMNGI).

This course is also offered in combination with WDAWL - Deploying Advanced Cisco Wireless LANs v1.1 as a five-day course about Cisco Wireless LANs called CWL - Deploying Cisco Basic and Advanced Wireless LANs v1.1.

Note: For the classroom version of this course, laptops are provided to participate in the hands-on labs. If you desire to use your own laptop, please bring a laptop computer with an Ethernet port as well as an internal wireless NIC, 802.11a/b/g/n. The laptop's operating systems must be Windows XP (SP3). If your operating system is Windows Vista or Windows 7, include a terminal emulator such as HyperTerminal. Additionally, if your laptop does not contain terminal emulation, then you will need administrator rights to the laptop to install software.
